thank you for clicking-on “About Mike”, and I hope, that what you are about to read will be of interest and inspiring!
I started playing Golf in 1963 at the age of 10; we lived just across the road from the “Rhos-on-Sea Golf Club” in North Wales and my first subscription cost one Pound and one Shilling – a “Guinea”. I was given my first set of clubs from a neighbour of ours; left-handed clubs which I persevered with although I was right-handed. My first great inspiration was of course Jimmy Buckley who played at the Club and is still regarded as a legend in the North Wales area. I will never forget the time playing with him and what great hands he had. Thank you Jimmy I will never forget you!
I have been a Club Professional for the past 35 years, mostly working in Germany and for the last 2 seasons in Austria. During my time in the professional ranks, nobody has inspired me more than Michael Hebron – I owe him so much!
My thoughts and hopes for the future of Golf will always be centered around the inner-city possibilities that we should have – driving range; six holes to play; in two hours your finished – go back to the office or home – pure enjoyment and the kids like it.
Before I forget, please may I ask you to ponder this fact of golfing life - we are not getting any better Instruction, high-tech Drivers and many hours on the Driving Range!
What is the problem and therefore the solution? An old boxing adage: "only listen to good advice!. a great teacher firstly changes your conception, than moves to the visual aspect - if it does not look good in front of the mirror, do not hit balls. Dancing and the martial arts are practiced as Golf - should be!
